ZSFG doesn't work like a single building with a front door. It's a campus of many buildings, and they're identified by number rather than by name — the hospital's own map is organized that way. If your family member has been admitted, the ward will usually give you a building number. Put that in the booking and the driver takes you to it.
If you don't have a number — which is normal when you're arriving mid-crisis — say so. We drop at the main entrance on 1001 Potrero Avenue, where staff can direct you. The emergency entrance is a separate door from the main lobby and from the outpatient clinics, so it's worth saying which one you actually need.
The garage entrance moves during the day
If someone in your group does drive, know this one: the 23rd Street garage is entered from 24th Street during the day and from 23rd Street in the evening. People get this wrong constantly. Rates run by the hour with a daily cap, and the hospital is upfront that parking here is limited.
For families rotating in and out over days or weeks — one person staying near the hospital, others flying in on a schedule — every leg is the same flat fare in either direction. A 5am run to SFO on a Tuesday costs what the 7pm Friday run costs.

Which entrance will the driver use?
Whichever you ask for at 1001 Potrero Avenue — the main hospital entrance, the emergency entrance, or a specific numbered building. The campus is laid out as numbered buildings, so if the ward gave you a number, that's the most useful thing to put in the booking. If you're not sure, the main entrance is the safe default.
