Sonoma County Airport Transportation from SFO

Sonoma County is the far side of the Golden Gate, an hour and a half to two hours from SFO up 101 — and, like Napa, it has no train and no scheduled shuttle from the airport. The choices after a long flight are a rental car from the far end of the terminal, a rideshare that may not find a driver willing to take a ninety-minute one-way at a fixed price, or two or three connections with luggage. A pre-arranged private car turns all of that into one thing to do when you land: find your driver at the curb.

The towns are spread out — Sonoma at the foot of its valley, Glen Ellen and Kenwood up Highway 12, Santa Rosa at the crossroads, Healdsburg at the top of 101 — so each has its own page, its own drive time and its own rate. Whichever you are staying in, the car goes to the door.

Two flat rates cover the five towns, both the same in either direction. Sonoma and Santa Rosa share one — the same ninety-minute drive from SFO. Glen Ellen, Kenwood and Healdsburg share a second, a little higher for the extra fifteen to twenty minutes past them. Each page shows the seven-seat minivan fare, the entry car on these drives; the premium SUV and the Black SUV are priced in the booking flow, which itemizes the Golden Gate Bridge toll and the SFO airport fee on top before you pay.

There is no meter and no surge. Commute traffic through Marin or a slow Sunday on 101 is our problem, not a change to your price.

Add your flight number when you book and we track it. Collect your bags and step out to the arrivals curb at your terminal; we text the driver's name, car and plate before you land, and there is no waiting fee for a late flight. Departing, the driver drops you at the curb on the departures level of your terminal.

Honest note: Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS), on the north edge of Santa Rosa, has a handful of direct flights, and if one of them is yours you are already in the county when you land. Most visitors fly into SFO for the flight choice — international arrivals in particular — and for that leg a booked car over the Golden Gate beats collecting a rental after fourteen hours in the air.
