SFO to Lake Tahoe Private Car Service
Private, direct transportation from San Francisco International Airport to Lake Tahoe — South Lake Tahoe, the west shore, Truckee and the north shore resorts.
A transfer, not a tour: no stops and no guide — we pick you up at SFO and drive you directly to Lake Tahoe.
Flat rate, confirmed before you commit.
We don't publish a fixed rate for Lake Tahoe yet. Enter your address in the booking form: where we have a rate for it you'll see the fare at once, by vehicle; otherwise a person confirms it by text or phone before you commit, usually within the hour. Either way it is one flat all-in price — no surge, no meter, no per-bag charge, and the tolls and the SFO airport fee already inside it.
Pickups between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. add the published night fee, shown before you pay. Tip is not required.
Several rides, a stop on the way, or a pickup that isn't listed? Tell us the trip in your own words and we read it.
Why travelers book this route
Tahoe is four hours from SFO over a mountain pass, and in winter that pass is the whole story: chain controls on I-80 and US-50, snow that closes lanes, and a queue of rental cars whose drivers have never fitted chains. A driver who runs the road in winter is worth more than the fare.
Ski trips are also the trips with the most luggage — boards, boots, a family's worth of layers. One car takes all of it from the arrivals curb to the cabin door, and the price was fixed before you flew.
Most people book both legs at once. The return is timed to the flight home with the pass conditions allowed for, so a storm forecast means a conversation the day before rather than a scramble on the morning.
Arrivals curb, flight tracked, driver confirmed by text
Book online in about a minute — no account, no app. A person reviews the request and texts back to confirm the ride and the fare; on the day, the driver texts before pickup and again on arrival. Then it is the drive to Lake Tahoe, direct, with no other passengers and no stops.
Add your flight number
We track the flight. A late landing moves your pickup rather than losing it, and there is no waiting fee for flight delays.
Meet at the arrivals curb
Collect your bags and step out to the arrivals curb at your terminal. We text your driver's name, car and plate before you land.
Luggage goes in the car
The driver loads at the curb and unloads at your door. Enter your bag count when you book so the right vehicle comes — the minivan for a family or four large cases.
The way back, curbside
For the ride to your flight home, the driver drops you at the departures level of your terminal, with the pickup time set against your check-in.
About Lake Tahoe
The lake has two ends and they are an hour apart: South Lake Tahoe with Heavenly and the casinos on the state line, and the north shore — Tahoe City, Truckee, Northstar, Palisades and Incline Village — reached over Donner Pass on I-80. The west shore lies between them on a slower road.
No published rate: two hundred mountain miles each way is a full day of a driver's time, and the conditions vary by the week. The fare is confirmed personally before you commit — one flat all-in price, the bridge tolls and the SFO airport fee already inside it.
- Tell us which shore you are staying on when you ask for a quote — South Lake and the north shore are different drives, over different passes, and the timing differs by an hour.
- Winter: we watch the chain controls and the forecast, and we will call you the day before if the timing should move. A car that cannot get over the pass is no use to anyone.
Choose the vehicle that fits your trip

Every class is a flat rate, both directions. Exact fares and seating for your route are shown in the booking flow, confirmed before you pay. The Sprinter is chartered by the hour — see hourly car service.
Lake Tahoe to SFO private car service
The return leg books in the same form at the same rate: set the pickup to your hotel, cabin or resort at the lake, the drop-off to SFO, and add the flight number — we set the pickup time against the check-in your airline wants, allowing for the traffic on the way, and you review the whole trip before you pay.
How long does it take to get from SFO to Lake Tahoe?
About four hours to South Lake Tahoe with the roads clear, and a little less to the north shore over Donner Pass. Winter conditions and Friday ski traffic add to that; your driver plans for it, and the fare you were quoted doesn't change.
Why is there no published rate?
Two hundred mountain miles each way is a full day of a driver's time, and winter changes the drive week by week. We confirm the fare personally before you commit — one flat all-in price, the bridge tolls and the SFO airport fee already inside it.
What happens if the pass has chain controls?
The driver carries chains and fits them — that is the job. If the pass closes outright we tell you as soon as we know and we don't charge you for a drive that couldn't happen.
Will our ski gear fit?
Say what you are bringing when you ask for a quote — boards, skis, boot bags, a pram — and we'll send the vehicle that takes it. The seven-seat minivan is the entry car on this drive; the premium SUV and the Black SUV carry more.
Would Reno airport be closer?
For the north shore, yes — RNO is about an hour from Incline Village against four from SFO. Many travellers still fly into SFO for the flight choice and the fares; this page is that drive.
Can you drive us from Tahoe back to SFO?
Yes, at the same rate as the way out, and booking both at once is the safer arrangement in winter. Add the flight number and we set the pickup time against your check-in, with the pass allowed for.
