St. Helena is nearly two hours from SFO with the roads clear, most of it on I-80 and then the two-lane stretch of Highway 29 north of Napa. That is a long drive to start after a flight, and the resorts around the town are exactly the kind of place people go to stop driving for a few days. About St. Helena
St. Helena is the upper valley's main town: a Main Street of shops and restaurants, the Culinary Institute's Greystone campus on the north edge, and resorts and inns spread along Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail on either side.
